How to Use
Use the straw as a light, springy bedding and nesting material, or offer it for rummaging, chewing and nibbling. Good straw should stay dry, fresh-smelling and springy, so store the bag in a cool, dry place and replace damp or soiled material.
As a rough guide, Pillow Wad says a Large 2kg bag may last one rabbit around four weeks, although actual use varies with the animal and how much is used or wasted.
Important Notes
Straw is the dried stalk of the barley crop rather than a grass hay. It is lower in nutrition than hay and should not replace the high-fibre hay that forms the main part of a rabbit or other suitable herbivore's diet.
Pillow Wad specifically advises that coarse straw may not be the best bedding choice for guinea pigs because of the risk of eye injury during rummaging; a softer bedding material is preferable for them.
