Livefood Silkworm Pre-Pack, Small
Soft-Bodied Livefood for Smaller Animals
Small silkworms provide a manageable, soft-bodied livefood option for smaller insect-eating reptiles, amphibians and other suitable exotic pets. Their gentle movement attracts attention and encourages natural feeding behaviour without the rapid jumping or running associated with some feeder insects.
They can be offered as part of a varied, species-appropriate feeding plan and are particularly useful for adding another texture and type of prey to a livefood rotation.
Why Offer Silkworms?
- Small size for younger or more petite insect-eating animals.
- Soft-bodied and easy for many suitable pets to manage.
- Gentle movement helps stimulate a natural feeding response.
- Do not jump, fly or make noise.
- Useful for increasing variety within a livefood rotation.
- Can be offered individually for controlled feeding.
Suitable For
Small silkworms may be suitable for young or smaller bearded dragons, chameleons, geckos, insect-eating lizards, frogs, other amphibians and selected exotic pets.
Always confirm that silkworms are appropriate for your particular species and life stage. The silkworm should be comfortably manageable and not too large for the animal to swallow safely.
How to Use
- Offer only an appropriate number for your animal’s size, age and feeding plan.
- Select silkworms of a safe and manageable size for your pet.
- Place them in a smooth-sided feeding dish, where appropriate, or offer individually using suitable feeding tongs.
- Dust with calcium or vitamin supplement when required by your species-specific care plan.
- Remove uneaten silkworms and any food residue after feeding.
- Use silkworms as part of a varied diet rather than relying upon a single livefood type.
Keeping Your Livefood
Keep silkworms in a clean, secure and well-ventilated container away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and cold. Silkworms require an appropriate mulberry-based food or specially prepared silkworm diet and should not be fed ordinary leaves, fruit or vegetables.
Keep the container dry and remove waste, old food and any dead silkworms regularly. Avoid condensation and handle the silkworms gently, as they are soft-bodied and delicate.
Livefood sizes and quantities may vary naturally between batches.
