Tiny Livefood from a Producing Culture
A live fruit fly culture provides a continuing supply of tiny prey for small insect-eating reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The culture contains fruit flies at different stages of development together with the prepared medium needed to support reproduction.
Rather than being a single portion of livefood, a well-maintained culture can continue producing flies over time. This makes it a convenient option for animals that require very small prey and regular feeds.

How to Use
- Check that adult flies are present and ready to feed before dispensing from the culture.
- Gently tap the container to move the flies away from the lid before opening.
- Tip or tap a suitable number of flies into a separate container or directly into the enclosure.
- Dust with an appropriate calcium or vitamin supplement when required by your species-specific care plan.
- Offer only a manageable quantity and monitor your animal’s feeding response.
- Close the culture securely immediately after use.
Looking After Your Culture
Keep the culture upright at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight, radiators and temperature extremes. Do not refrigerate or allow the culture to overheat. Keep the ventilated lid securely fitted and avoid tipping or shaking the container unnecessarily.
The number of visible adult flies will naturally rise and fall as the culture develops. Newly purchased cultures may require time before reaching peak production. Replace the culture if it becomes exhausted, excessively wet, badly contaminated or develops an unpleasant condition beyond the normal smell of the culture medium.
